Devotional: A New Beginning

Well, I’ve already blogged in 2019 almost as much as I did throughout 2018. This year I plan on posting a lot more through my blog and my YouTube channel. I plan on writing more devotionals than anything else and hope to go a little deeper with videos as I study through the Word, so stay tuned! Here’s the first devotional of 2019!

One of my goals for 2019 is to read through the Bible in a year. The first scripture I read was Genesis 1 and Matthew 1- the beginning of the world (creation) and the beginning of the gospel through the birth of Christ. These scriptures show that our God is a God of new beginnings! In Genesis 1, He created the world. A beginning for the world. The start of a relationship with man. In Matthew 1, Christ was born, a new beginning for mankind. The hope of salvation in the form of a new baby. But not just any baby- the baby who would save those who recognized their need for a Savior.

In the beginning, God created man from dust. If he can create man from dust, I wonder what He can do with my life, with my mess. To every story, there is a beginning. The beginning of the world. The beginning of mankind. The beginning of a relationship between God and man. You can have a beginning too. God is a God of grace- when you choose Him and His salvation- He erases what’s already happened. He begins writing a new story. He gives you a new identity. Truly, a new beginning. So choose Him today. Choose His new beginnings.

Today’s Prayer:

Lord, Thank you for new beginnings. Thank you for the beginning you gave me when you sent your Son to this world to die on the cross for my sins. Help me to focus on that beginning in my life. Help me to focus on the new identity you gave me when I accepted your salvation. Remind me of that beginning when I am down or focus on the past and what was. Help me to trust that you are the God of new beginnings.
